Shakirat Abiola Ogunmowo (Sanyaolu), a mother to two teenage boys is a textile designer and manufacturer of one of Nigerian’s indigenous textiles known as Aso Oke. She has been designing for as long as she can remember initially designing ready to wear items and bags to eventually settling into textile design and manufacturing 10 years ago. She is currently the CEO and Creative Director of Abiola Aso Oke Textiles.
She resigned from banking in 2012 after 9 years with Guaranty Trust Bank where she worked in the customer service, retail and corporate banking units. She was responsible for the banking relations of Flour Mills and some of the International airlines, embassies, and Construction companies that maintained accounts with the bank. Experiencing banking was inevitable as her father was a retired banker. The experience gathered in the field went a long way in preparing Abiola for her customer-interfacing entrepreneurial role.
Over the years, she worked and volunteered in various associations. She has served as a member of the Executive Council of Federal Government Girls College, Oyo 1992 Alumni (as Social Secretary and as a Trustee) and received awards from both her primary and secondary school Alumni. She also worked as a student counselor while in college whilst working towards her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Minor in marketing.
She is also an actor and has featured in a few TV series and movies some of which are on NETFLIX.
She is a defacto souvenir, fashion, and event consultant for many groups that know her, as she is known to have a flair for adding a touch of unforgettable yet affordable twist to every event she has the privilege of planning.
Abiola Ogunmowo hopes to bring her creative skills, counseling experience, love for people, and her relationship management knowledge to help Akogun Peak Foundation achieve its goal of closing the digital divide in rural areas across the country.
